Wings Fall To Broncos In Shootout

The Weyburn Red Wings and Humboldt Broncos opened up the Notre Dame tournament in Wilcox this afternoon with the Broncos coming away with the 3-2 shootout victory. Jordan Schindel scored both Bronco goals in regulation well Steven Schroeder added the shootout winner. Brayden Klimosko chipped in with two assists while Matt Rintoul also had an assist for Humboldt.
Luke Johnson continued his scoring streak in the preseason by picking up a goal for the Wings. Preston Shupe also scored. Assists went to Michael Seib, Torrey Lindsay and Kyle Johnson.
Taylor Nelson stopped 10 of 11 shots for the Broncos in 30 minutes of play while Andrew Bodnarchuk was much busier making 31 of 32 saves in 35 minutes of action.
Brittan Kuhlman played the first period for the Wings stopping 9 of 10 shots with AJ Whiffen going the rest of the way stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced.
The Wings are right back at it tomorrow when the Notre Dame Hounds come to town. Game time is 7:30 at the Colosseum. The Wings return to Notre Dame on Saturday night and then conclude their preseason schedule in Estevan on Sunday afternoon.
