Wednesday Night Roundup!

The Melville Millionaires have improved to 6-0 after defeating the Kindersley Klippers 2-1. Dion Campbell scored the eventual winning goal just 46 seconds into the second period on a short handed effort. Bryant Dyke also scored for Melville. Campbell, Derek Edwards, Scott Hennings and Austin Krahenbil added assists. Brett Leedahl scored late in the second for the Klippers but it would not be enough as they fall to 4-2. Travis Bosch, making his second start of the season, stopped 33 Klipper shots. His counterpart, Matt Weninger, put in a strong rookie effort as well as he made 40 saves.

In Estevan, the Nipawin Hawks will have to settle for a split on the road after being hammered by the Bruins 5-1. The Bruins have won four consecutive games and are now 4-2. THe Hawks dropped to 4-3 with the loss. Niko Grose, Gabriel Carle, Kyle Stroh, Payden Benning and Brady Dew scored for Estevan. Chad Filteau added two assists. Steve Mason scored the lone goal for Nipawin. Karsten Felske improved his record to 3-0 as he made 34 saves. Derek Kleinsteuber took the loss turning aside 28 shots.

The Melfort Mustangs improved to 3-3 with a 4-1 victory over the struggling Battlefords North Stars on Wednesday night. The Stars have only 1 win in 8 starts. Riley Clark, Ryan Gareau, Gary Childerhose and Kyle Fraser scored for the Mustangs. Brody Malek replied for the Stars. Jesse Trach made the start for Melfort and turned aside 22 shots. Adrien Lemay stopped 32 of the 36 shots he faced for the Stars.

Reminder - Wings return to action Friday night when they look to be the first team to knock off the Melville Millionaires this season. Game time at the Colosseum is 7:30. Hope to see ya at the rink.
