Monday Night Exhibition Action

There were four exhibition games this evening in the SJHL. After an all rookie game last night, the Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires dressed the veterans tonight with the Terriers winning 4-0. Lynden Sammartino started his exhibition season strongly playing all 60 minutes in turning aside all 30 Millionaire shots.
Derek Serdachny, Corey Silverson and Chris Cook all had one goal and one assist for the Terriers. Evan Niebrandt also scored. Picking up assists on the evening were Travis Coghill, Logan Dew, Michael Trebish, Kevin Stringfellow and Stephen Martinuk. Kyle Cantlon stopped 25 of the 29 shots he faced in his Millionaires debut.

In Swan River, Manitoba the Flin Flon Bombers dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the Swan Valley Stampeders. Fred Lamontaigne led the Bombers with a goal and an assist. Jordan Crone, Cole Wilson and Mitch Dougall also scored goals. Owen Woloshyn, Robert Beaudry and Brendan Bentz picked up assists. The Bombers used three goalies. Highly touted rookie Carsen Chubak only faced two shots in the first period, stopping both. Dustin Lehne stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced in the second period. Joel Rumpel allowed 6 goals on 9 shots including the overtime winner.

The Kindersley Klippers and Battlefords North Stars also met for an all rookie game tonight in Kindersley. Ben Ritchie, Mitch Neumeier and Corbin Weston tallied for the Klippers. Matt Olsen, Jarrett Bicknell, Taylor Duzan, Cameron Boyd and Byron Ismond added assists. Dylan Scheafer scored the lone goal for the Stars with Brian Sydiaih getting the assist.
Riley Williams played the first half of the game in goal for the Klippers stopping all 10 shots he faced. Matt Weinger went the rest of the way stopping 13 of the 14 shots he faced. Ryan Kerpen was flawless for the Stars in his 31 minutes of action stopping all 22 shots he faced. Nathan Keller played the rest of the game stopping 6 of the 9 shots he faced.

As of the time of this writing a score was still not in from the Nipawin - Melfort game.

Tomorrow night in the SJHL the Weyburn Red Wings host the Estevan Bruins at the Colosseum. The puck drops at 7:30. Elsewhere tomorrow night the Melville Millionaires travel to Humboldt to take on the Broncos, the Nipawin Hawks will host the OCN Blizzard and the Yorkton Terriers will be in Dauphin to face the Kings.
