My Take on the Smale Situation!

As we all know this, is a blog and opinions are those of the writers and not necessarily those of the organization. That being said, I am going to take a bit of a different stance on Jared Smale's situation than what Troy's article did.
I for one, would like to thank Jared for his contributions to the organization over the past two seasons. It is no doubt that he had the talent to be a special player and in all likelihood would be a frontrunner to lead this team in scoring this season. I wish Jared and his family all the best in their future.
However, I also believe that this is a team game and not an individual game. There is no need to get into details on what occurred. The bottom line is that this sends a message that you play for the crest on the jersey, not the name on the back. I think this sends an incredible message to the young players we have on this team.
Again - I re-iterate this is a blog and blogs contain opinionated articles of the writers. We welcome comments from all readers and just ask that you remain courteous of fellow posters and refrain from foul language.

*UPDATE*

Thanks for all the comments regarding the issue so far, I would like to let everyone know that you now do not have to create an account to leave a comment, but we would prefer you leave your name rather than an anonymous comment. We hope this will get more people to take part in the discussions! Thanks.

It's good to have another opinion, Brad. Red Wing fans are talking, of course, about the Smale situation. During their discussions I hope people remember that, while Jared does have some issues to work on, he is a passionate person on and off the ice. Being passionate has helped him as a hockey player. He is very talented and has a lot of skill to offer any team. Unfortunately his passion and emotions sometimes get the better of him and he doesn't always handle each situation in a positive way that is beneficial to everyone around him, including himself. Hopefully as he matures he will be able to use this passion in a more positive way enabling him to go as far in life as he should.

For any of you that have ever had to say goodbye to a billet you can understand how hard this day is for me. These boys become a part of your family and we always want the best for them. I hope things work out for Jared and that this becomes a positive move for him, as well as the Red Wings.

I appreciate that there will be conversation about Jared leaving the Red Wings; it is my hope that Jared will be remembered as a determined passionate player.

Al and I (Pauline) would like to thank the people of Weyburn for the kindness they have extended Jared during his two year stay. It was very reassuring for us so far away.

Thank-you Dwight, Darcy and the coaching staff. Jared has developed as a player and as a young adult due to your guidance.

Most importantly we would like to thank Rosanne and Don who opened up their home and treated Jared as part of the family. He has grown as a result of this experience and will miss you all.

All the best to the Red Wings this season.

Pauline and Al

To Rosanne:

Thanks for taking the time to add your comments. It was greatly appreciated to read your words and see from the eyes of the billet

To Pauline (and family):

Thanks for "sharing" your son with us for the last couple years. I always enjoyed Jared's play and effort on the ice. Please pass along my best to him in his future as I did not have a chance to see him before he left. It is quite evident Jared had a passion for the game and I know that will serve him well in his future. All the best.

I like the way Jared played the game, I think on the right team he can be a star but the Red Wings never look like the place for him. Jared is the type who loved to carry the puck into the zone by himself and go for that game winning goal. We don't do that here!

I think the poll speaks for itself how the rest of the people feel. I wish him the best of luck and hope to see him take on the Red Wings one day.

Be sure that you will almost always be with someone when having a fishing getaway, as this is not really a sport activity that needs to be done by itself. In the event of an emergency, you can expect to generally want someone to be there with you to provide help when you need it the most. T22wyuul
