I made the call to Dwight today to see how he and the Red Wings were after the loss to the Notre Dame Hounds last night, and to my surprise Dwight was rather chipper, well, as close to chipper as Dwight can get.
Troy Kramm: How tough was it to stomach the loss to the Notre Dame Hounds last night?
Dwight McMillan: Very tough. We didn't compete and when you don't compete you don't think. When your not thinking then you don't hit and end up turning the puck over.
TK: What were the boys not doing right during the game that allowed the Hounds to score 5 goals in the third period?
DM: As I said we just didn't compete. We weren't physical enough along the boards, we had way too many turnovers in our end and we didn't take out guys in front of the net which led to scoring chances.
TK: Over the first part of the season Kyle McConnell has seen his share of bad luck goals. Has this affected him in any way?
DM: Well he is going to have to work through it. We have guys up front who are missing goals and trying too hard to put them in the net so back there is up to him. He has to find ways to help keep the puck out of the net.
TK: Do you plan on mixing the lines up this weekend?
DM: No not too much, we have been scoring 4 or 5 goals in the games so we just have to pick up the defensive part of our game.
TK: Rylan Schwartz had an incredible game for the Hounds and was constantly a threat on the ice, but was their any particular Red Wing who you thought stood out in the game.
DM: I thought Perrault played really well for his first game this season. We just haven't had the room to fit him in as much due to the numbers this season but I thought he looked right at home out there.
