It took the Kindersley Klippers until the final minute of overtime to get the win over Jordie Johnston and the La Ronge Ice Wolves after tieing the game with one minute remaining in the third.
The Klippers found themselves down by a score of 5-2 after the first period and looked to be all but done as the Ice Wolves got another early goal in the second to make the score 6-2.
The tide then changed as the Klippers stormed back with four unanswered goals with the last one coming at under a minute to go in the third to tie it at six a piece and send the game to overtime. Jordan Braid of the Klippers scored at 4:03 of overtime to pick up the hat trick and the two points for the team to keep them in the race for first place in the Sherwood Conference.
The only other game in the SJHL tonight was a battle of the basement dwellers as the Battlefords Northstars traveled to Wilcox to face the Notre Dame Hounds.
Both teams traded goals throughout the night as Battlefords opened up the scoring in the first on a goal by Kassidy Collins. Notre Dame then countered in the second period as Rylan Schwartz scored to tie the game at one after two periods of play.
Battlefords again took the lead on a goal by Rick Cey at 13:09 of the third period. It looked like the Northstars had the game in hand until Thomas Williams of the Hounds scored with only three seconds to go to tie the game and send it to overtime where Brett Ferguson scored to win it for the Hounds
* The Weyburn Red Wings return to action Friday night as they take on the Flin Flon Bombers at the Colosseum. Come on out and enjoy the game. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
