There was only one game on the schedule on this bitterly cold Saskatchewan night which saw the head coaching debut of Blair Atcheynum for the Battlefords North Stars.
Taylor Thiessen scored with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to spoil Atcheynum's debut as the Nipawin Hawks pulled out the 3-2 victory in North Battleford. Steve Mason added two goals for the Hawks who also got a pair of assists from Brent Ottmann. Thiessen, Torrie Dyck and Cody Wutzke also had assists for Nipawin. Shawn McNulty and Mitch Wall replied for the Stars who got assists from Richard Cameron, Alexandre Leclerc and Joel Budd. Derek Kleinsteuber picked up the win for the Hawks in goal while Adrien Lemay took the loss for the Stars.
