Colliton Returns to Bruins!

(story courtesy of sjhl.ca)

The January 10th trade deadline is on Thursday, but the Estevan Bruins are not waiting that long before they announce a major transaction.

The Bruins have re-acquired 1987 F Nick Colliton from the Drayton Valley Thunder for future considerations.

While Colliton isn't likely to put up eye popping offensive totals, he does give the team much needed depth up front and, more importantly, his sand paper approach will be welcomed on a team that isn't so tough to play on home ice at the moment.

Colliton played 50-games and scored 5-goals and 11-assists as a rookie with the Bruins in 2005-06. Last season, the Bruins traded him to Flin Flon in a multi player transaction that Head Coach Karry Biette now reveals was a deal that was tough to get done. “We never wanted to move Nick, but when we talked to Flin Flon last year, his name always came back into the picture and it was going to be the only way we'd get anything done with them.” In the end, Colliton was traded along with Kyle Lundale and Jordan Cherney for David Holinaty, Braden Olszewski, Michael McKinna, and Steven Robinson.

Colliton finished with 10-goals and 17-assists in 52-games last season. He was dealt to Brooks (AJHL) by the Bombers in the offseason and since then was moved to Drayton Valley and at last report had 7-goals and 4-assists in 34-games.

Any rumours if the Wings are going to make any changes by the 10th?

When chatting with Dwight yesterday he was in his office on the phone inquiring about a number of players but he said that was all he was doing, inquiring. I heard some names of players he asked about unfortunately I am not allowed to say.

As for players that could be leaving? Your guess is as good as mine, I couldn't tell you who would go if a trade was made. Anything could happen.
