Wings "Bomb"ed by Bombers!

The Weyburn Red Wings continued there road trip tonight in the not so friendly confines of the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon as they were downed 7-2 by the high flying Bombers.

The Wings had a good start to the game when Brayden Nargang scored just a 1:22 into the opening period. However, the Bombers answered that goal only 15 seconds later and then never looked back. Barrett Penner and Pierre - Luc Boucher each had a goal and three assists to lead the Bombers. David Linsley scored twice while Reid MacLeod, Cole Wilson, and Dennis Kubat also scored for the Bombers. Myles Masse added three assists for the Bombers. Adam Feniak scored his first goal in a Red Wing uniform in the third period. Rhett Bly and Preston Shupe had assists. Calvin Bartel picked up the win in the Flin Flon goal as he made 21 saves. It was a rare off night for AJ Whiffen as he was chased late in the second period after allowing five goals on 22 shots. Tanner Erickson went the rest of the way allowing 2 goals on 15 shots. The Wings will look to shake this one off as they head to La Ronge for a game tomorrow night.

Game Notes: Josh Bray saw limited action (power play only) after suffering a lower body injury versus Nipawin on Friday night...... The Bombers have outscored there opponents 16-4 so far this weekend after downing La Ronge 9-2 on Friday night...... Andrew Perrault was back in the lineup tonight after being a healthy scratch on Friday night........ The Red Wings have more depth coming to the forward position with the acquisition of Riley Daulby from the Swan Valley Stampeders, via Beausejour. I would suspect that Daulby will make his Red Wing debut next weekend when the Wings head to Melville........ Reminder that the game in La Ronge is a 6:00 start tomorrow night and you can tune in on AM1190 or online at www.discoverweyburn.com. We also have a link to the broadcast on this site.

Elsewhere tonight,

In Yorkton, the Terriers continue to struggle against Kindersley as they fell 4-2 to the Klippers. Jarrett Bicknell scored twice for the Klippers while Kirk Pearce and Jonathan Redlick added singles. Brett Leedahl chipped in with three assists. Kevin Stringfellow had a goal and an assist to lead the Terriers offensively. Cody Zubko also scored while Derek Serdachny added two assists in the losing cause. Ryan Nieszner had a strong game in goal stopping 37 shots in the Kindersley goal. Lynden Sammartino allowed 4 goals on 25 shots in the Yorkton goal.

Game Notes: Bryan Hull returned to the lineup for the Terriers after missing about a month of action due to injury. Hull was held off the scoresheet offensively but was assessed a minor penalty and 10 minute misconduct for a checking to the head infraction...... Despite two consecutive shutouts versus the Terriers, Matt Weninger was riding the pine tonight in favor of the veteran Nieszner...... Yorkton continues to struggle offensively and I would suspect are searching around for help up front........ The Klippers head back to Melville tomorrow night as they look to avenge a 3-1 loss on Friday night........ The Klippers were without Matt Sawa and Scott Linnell who are out due to suspension.

In Melfort, the Humboldt Broncos completed the weekend sweep of the home and home with the Mustangs as they won by a decisive 5-2 score. The Schroeder twins provided a bulk of the Broncos offense tonight as Scott had two goals and an assist while Steven added a goal and an assist. Russ Nielsen and Shawn Hunter also scored for Humboldt. Matt Hill and Gary Childerhose replied for Melfort. Nick Kalnicki picked up an assist on Hill's goal for his first point as a Mustang. Taylor Nelson picked up the win for the Broncos as he had 22 saves on the night. Ilia Ejov had a tough night in Melfort's goal as he allowed 4 goals on 11 shots before making way for Jesse Trach who stopped 5 of the 6 shots he faced.

Game Notes: The Mustangs have lost 4 of there last 5 games after going 16 straight games with at least a single point ..... Ejov has four straight losses after starting his SJHL career with a 14-0-0-1 record....... The Broncos were playing without Edward Gale and Matthew Kirzinger who are still out due to suspension...... The Broncos now have a three point lead on the Mustangs for first in the Itech.

Tonight's SJHL Three Stars:

* Barrett Penner - Flin Flon Bombers (4 point night for Flin Flon grinder)
** Steven Schroeder - Humboldt Broncos (2 goals and an assist in win over Melfort)
*** Jarrett Bicknell - Kindersley Klippers (2 goal night for Klippers rookie forward in win over Yorkton)

What's up Sunday????

Weyburn @ La Ronge (6:00)
Kindersley @ Melville
Nipawin @ Battlefords
