Broncos, Bruins Victorious on Wednesday!

The Notre Dame Hounds were sort of the home team tonight as they played a "home" game in Lanigan versus the Humboldt Broncos. No doubt most of the crowd in Lanigan was pulling for the Broncos on this night. Brady Wacker led the way for Humboldt as he scored two goals. Scott Schroeder, Tanner Vandesype, Josh Garneau, Taylor Pillar and Jordan Schindel also scored for the Broncos. Laurent Benjamin chipped in with two assists while Steven Schroeder, Brayden Klimosko, Schindel, Voldy Dashko, Bryce Walker, Vandesype, Dane Lindskog, Shawn Hunter, Mitchell Peeke and Garneau all had single helpers. Cody Mapes, Chris Bratina and Travis Janke all scored for Notre Dame. Kyle Ireland, Blake Peake and Rylan Schwartz all added assists. Taylor Nelson made 40 saves for the win while Mark Currie also made 40 saves in the Hounds goal.

Game Notes: The Broncos played without Eddie Gale and Matthew Kirzinger who began serving three game suspensions tonight for an incident versus Kindersley on Saturday. The Broncos were also fined $400 while Matt Sawa and Scott Linnell of the Klippers were also suspended three games each, Jeremy Beller of the Klippers for one game and a $500 fine was tagged on the Klippers while there head coach Larry Wintoneak also received a $200 fine...... Blayne Stevenson (Hounds) and Tanner Vandesype (Broncos) played their first game against their former teams since the trade on Friday night. Evan Bryksa has not yet suited up for the Hounds and one has to wonder if he ever has any intentions of playing for the Hounds. Stay tuned...... Shawn Hunter made his debut for the Broncos as he picked up an assist. Hunter was acquired from the AJHL over the weekend.

In Flin Flon, the Estevan Bruins were looking to avenge a shootout loss in Nipawin on Tuesday night and they did exactly that as they went on to double up the Bombers 4-2. Reid MacLeod put the Bombers up 1-0 just 30 seconds into the game with Harley Garrioch picking up the assist. The Bruins would tie things up midway through the second period as Brody Haygarth scored from Chad Filteau. Filteau gave the Bruins there first lead of the night at 8:14 of the third picking up his fifth goal of the season from Brant Harris and Riley Hughes. The Bombers would tie things up six and a half minutes later as Scott Day made it a 2-2 game. Cameron MacKinnon picked up the lone assist on the goal. The Bruins would regain the lead with just 1:51 to go in regulation as former Prince Albert Minto Brennan Wrigley got what turned out to be the game winner from Gabriel Carle and Harris. Kyle Stroh then added an empty netter with 36 seconds to go to seal the victory. Filteau assisted to pick up his third point of the night. Karsten Felske made 24 saves in the Bruins goal while Carsen Chubak allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Flin Flon goal.

Game Notes: Michael Denis made his first appearance in a Flin Flon uniform. Denis was acquired over the weekend of Vaudreuil of the Quebec Junior A League. Denis had 26 points in 24 games with Vaudreuil. .... Filteau now has four points in two games on the road trip for the Bruins...... the Bruins continue to platoon goaltenders as David Ritz started last night in Nipawin and the Bruins went back with Felske tonight...... The Bombers big three forward have cooled off a bit as of late. Jordie Johnston of the La Ronge Ice Wolves has moved into second in league scoring while his teammate Jarrid Dowhay is now fourth in league scoring as the Flin Flon dream of having the leagues top three scorers this season is starting to fade. With the way Bruno-Pier Gosselin has been playing as of late, it may be the Ice Wolves that end up with the top three scorers before all is said and done....... The Bruins complete their road trip in La Ronge tomorrow night. The Ice Wolves have won eight straight games.

Tonight's Three Stars:
* Chad Filteau - Estevan Bruins (three point night, much improved play as of late)
** Brady Wacker - Humboldt Broncos (two goal night)
*** Tanner Vandesype - Humbodlt Broncos (2 point night versus former team as he starts to get comfortable in Humboldt.)

Upcoming games:

Thursday:

Estevan @ La Ronge - Ice Wolves put eight game winning streak on the line. Bruins can temporarily move into sole possession of second in Sherwood with a win.

Friday:

Kindersley @ Melville - Teams currently tied with 38 points each in Sherwood standings. Klippers will be without services of forward Matt Sawa and defenseman Scott Linnell.

Melfort @ Humboldt - first game of home and home between Itech leaders. Broncos will have to win without Matt Kirzinger and Eddie Gale as they will be out due to suspension for both weekend games.

Weyburn @ Nipawin - Red Wings looking to expand lead in Sherwood Conference and start road trip out strong. Hawks will try to repeat what they did to Estevan on Tuesday night.

Hope you guys like the new look. I think it makes things more visible and allows us to display things better. Leave your comments and vote at the poll please.
