Back home again!

Troy Kramm: The team picked up two of six possible points during the weekend, it could have been worse but it could have been better. What happened this weekend?

Dwight McMillan: On Friday I think we played our typical road game versus the Hawks. We were just really sound defensively. Doody and Johnson were our best players out there and Whiffen was incredible in the shoot-out as well as the entire night. We really controlled the game.

Then versus Flin Flon we were a little on the flat side. Their first three goals were on the flukey side of things which really put us down and out of the game. We did have the opportunity to make it 4-3 with some open nets but we missed our chances and you just can’t do that versus a team like that. They have a super team and can really hurt you if you let them, and we let them.

Finally in La Ronge we played really sound five on five hockey but they killed us on the powerplay. They were outstanding on the powerplay and our penalty kill wasn’t up to par. We created some good scoring chances and did some good things but in the end it was our special teams that hurt us.

TK: Now you have a week to get ready for Melville, what are you going to work on in hopes of beating the Millionaires for the first time this season?

McMillan: I don’t know, but we have to work on our penalty kill and our powerplay if we want to be effective against any team. We are just going to get some guys out there and see who can create some chances.

TK: Do you feel that the Wings will be able to compete with Humboldt, as they have continually gotten better this year especially over the past couple of weeks with the trade of Vandesype and Gale.

McMillan: I think we really upgraded as well last week so our team should be able to play with Humboldt. If we get our PK or PP units going than we should be able to beat them here on Sunday.

"We did have the opportunity to make it 4-3 with some open nets but we missed out chances"

Linsley, scored in the second to make it 4-0, how the heck did you have the opportunity to make it 4-3? It was 7-0 before the Wings scored. I can see a coach wanting to make it sound better than it was, but this is a little over the top, you may have had the chance to make it 4-1, but missed everytime. Hmmmm

Actually the Wings scored the first goal of the game to be technical. That being said the Wings had a game just like the Bombers did down here the last time they were here. The Wings won 4-0 and Boucher, Kubat and MacLeod and the gang were invisible. The Bombers are a great home team but lets see what they can do on the road. (2 of Battlefords 3 wins were over the Bombers)

I am glad you were technical, because I came back online realizing my post was mixed up, the Linsley goal to make it 4-0, and then 7-0 was the La Ronge game! Oops, but the point's the same, just got to make it 4-2 before you can make it 4-3.

As for the losses to Battleford, Kerpan was incredible stopping fifty the one game. It's a big week for the Bombers. They were incredible on the weekend, now if they can take two from Battleford this week, and then finish for the break with Kindersley, that series with Melfort when they come back should be something to watch for second. The Bombers are getting up for the big games at home, and winning. I agree they have to start showing it on the road! Great races this year for top spots in both divisions.
