Broncos Complete Southern Sweep!

The Humboldt Broncos showed no signs of slowing down after three games in three nights as they put the pedal to the metal in dumping the Red Wings 7-1 at the Colosseum. Steven Schroeder, Shawn Hunter and Jordan Schindel each had a goal and an assist for the Broncos. Russ Nielsen, Matthew Kirzinger, Dane Lindskog and Laurent Benjamin also scored for the Broncos. Matthew Rintoul added three assists for Humboldt while Brady Wacker had two assists. Brayden Nargang scored the Wings lone goal, his 16th of the season. Josh Bray and Luke Johnson assisted. Taylor Nelson improved his league leading goaltending statistics as he stopped 25 of 26 shots. It was a tough night for AJ Whiffen as he was pulled after allowing six goals on 35 shots in just over 47 minutes of play. In fairness to AJ there were a couple of unlucky bounces that made it impossible for him to be able to make the save. Tanner Erickson went the rest of the way allowing one goal on six shots. Shawn Courtney is starting to become a fan favorite in Weyburn as he dropped the gloves for the second consecutive night and both times as impressed in the fisticuffs department. It was fun to be sitting in the penalty box and listening to the friendly bantering back and forth between the combatants, Courtney and Voldy Dashko. These two guys are what makes the game so fun. They can kick the crap out of each other on the ice but carry on a good civil conversation just a couple of minutes after trying to beat the snot out of each other. To the Broncos fans reading this, you guys have a helluva team and so well - balanced. Although I do concede the Broncos won all four regular season matchups this year, I would love to see a Credential Cup final featuring these two clubs. I think it would be a dandy. I guess we will have to see how the chips play as it is only December now.

Three Stars:

This is the three stars we picked in the rink tonight.
* Laurent Benjamin - Humboldt Broncos
** Matthew Rintoul - Humboldt Broncos
*** Brayden Nargang - Weyburn Red Wings

Tomorrow is an off day in the league. There will be three games on Tuesday night:
La Ronge @ Estevan
Melville @ Kindersley
Notre Dame @ Nipawin

come on get your head out of your back side the whole team sucked an eggs last time in 30 yrs as a season ticket hold that was one dullest games yet maybe if the fans would be more vocal is in cheering not sitting there like there at a funeral maybe we could help the team come back from some of there poorer starts

Second ones on me...I thought the third in 3 nights would have our guys out of gas...guess not...pretty sure the Wings will be flying after the break and be one hell of a playoff team...hope to see ya in the finals but getting out of the Itech will be tough...

Thanks guys. We will be sure to treat you well down here as well. If you have not been down here at all this year you will be happy to know that beer is allowed in the stands now well you watch the game. So it makes the experience even better.

I agree it is way to early to look that far ahead. Other than Notre Dame and the Stars, and maybe Nipawin and Yorkton, any of the other eight teams have a great chance of being in the final two. Should make for a fun few months in the new year. I think the rosters after January 10 will also play a factor although I honestly do not expect things to look much different around the league after the 10th as both Notre Dame and the Stars have made their moves already. That being said there could be guys from other leagues that come in and make an impact. I think back to last year when we brought in Patrick Bordeleau on the 10th. He was our MVP in the playoffs. You never know what can happen. Makes it fun.

WOW! Talk about a turn around from one night to the next. We were outshot by a margin of two to one. Are we depending on Whiffen too much? Outside of Friday night the goal scorers have disappeared along with the PP (again). Both areas are going to need lots of work after the break or the Wings are going to go down hill. We need consistancy for tne whole team. Maybe the staff is going to have to seriously look at picking up a couple of players who can score with consistency.

As long as we keep rolling four lines we are not going to have anyone in the top scorers in the league.
We could use a scorer to play with Shupe and Lindsay but scorers are used to extra ice time and they will not be happy if they come here and we are rolling all four lines.
The only line that is scoring consistently is the Nargang, Bray, Johnson line. We do need some more players to help provide some secondary scoring.

i'm not worried about the team, its an awsome young team, I believe they will make some moves by the 10th, then they will be even more dangerous.
they've had 2 or 3 rough games lately, all teams go through that. dwight & staff are known for their strong playoff runs.

I agree that the wings have had a couple of rough games. I am not worried about the team either. I beleive things will get even better after the break. The team will come together and we will see them make a run for the cup. It is a young team and they need a little extra time to get it together. And as for the staff I believe they are doing a great job. Nobody expected the Red Wings to be contenders this year. So lets get behind them and keep it going. I am confident we will see them in the final.

Dwight has always ran the 4 line system, & who are we to argue w/ him, the most successful coach in the SJHL. Weyburn as far as i can remember never were known for having the top scorers in the leaugue, the odd yr. they have one up there. Flin Flon has the top 2 scores in the league & 3 in the top 5 & they are in 4th place. Go Wings!

I couldn't agree with you more! Share the wealth, that's what the Red Wings do with their goals!

Dwight has things under control but it still would be nice to have a pure offensive threat out on the ice at times.
