Klippers Grab Share of First in Sherwood Going into Break!

The Kindersley Klippers were looking to go home for the holidays on top of the division and they did just that as they doubled up the Notre Dame Hounds 6-3 on Thursday night.

Jonathan Redlick (1 goal, 2 assists) and Brett Leedahl (3 assists) led the way for the Klippers. Ryan Sawka also continued his torrid pace as of late as he scored twice. Casey Rempel, Jerrett Bicknell and Scott Linnell also scored for Kindersley. Matt Sawa had two assists while picking up single assists were Jeremy Beller, Justin Perreaux, Kalib Thunderchief, Ben Ritchie and Kirk Pearce. Travis Janke, TJ Ahvenniemi and Andrew Bzdel replied for the Hounds. Chris Bratina, Rylan Schwartz, Blake Peake and Shane Gray added assists for the Hounds. Matt Weninger got the start for the Klippers and made 31 saves. Mark Currie started for the Hounds and was peppered with 32 shots in less than 30 minutes of action. He was pulled after allowing the fifth Kindersley goal. Andre - Michel Guay went the rest of the way and stopped 14 of 15 shots fired in his direction. Both the Hounds and Klippers now start there Christmas break.

There is only one game left before everyone is gone home for the holidays. That will occur on Saturday night in Prince Albert when the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Battlefords North Stars will meet in a neutral site affair.

I will have updated power rankings posted either Saturday night or Sunday morning after all games for this week are completed.

At this time I would like to wish all the readers, players, coaches, executive, fans, volunteers and everyone else a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2008. Hope to see you all at the rink on December 29 for the inaugral Tommy Huston Classic versus the Estevan Bruins.
