The Kindersley Klippers did the unthinkable and won two games in two nights in Weyburn to take a commanding 2-0 series lead after skating away with a 3-2 victory on Saturday night.
Kirk Pearce, who has been a Red Wing killer all season, scored his first of the night at 15:27 of the first period from Brett Leedahl and Ryan Sawka to put the Klippers up 1-0. That lead would be short lived as Rhett Bly would tie things up as he did a beautiful deke on Klippers goaltender Matt Weninger and just 36 seconds after Pearce's goal. Torrey Lindsay had the lone assist on the goal. The Klippers would regain the lead with a power play marker at the 13:47 mark of the second period as Sawka picked up his first goal of the playoffs from Jonathan Redlick and Leedahl. Pearce would then score his second of the night and the eventual game winner just under three minutes later as he picked up the puck in a goal mouth scramble and beat Whiffen to make it 3-1. Matt Sawa and Steven Turner assisted on the goal. Josh Bray would make things interesting with just over six minutes to play in the third as he scored his first goal of the playoffs on a nice feed from Brayden Nargang. Matt Weninger had another strong start for the Klippers as he made 34 saves enroute to victory. AJ Whiffen made 27 saves in the Weyburn goal.
There was a bit of a melee in section A after some mouthy Kindersley fans egged on some Weyburn fans who were leaving the rink. Not sure exactly what came out of it but hopefully the guys from Weyburn kicked some you know what so that we could say we won something tonight.
Games 3 and 4 go back in Kindersley on Tuesday and Wednesday night and please note they are 7:00 starts. Kevin Smith will have the play by play for you both nights from the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley. You can listen online at www.discoverweyburn.com or on the radio dial AM1190. I wish I could go along for the trip but with my busy season at work I will not be able to go along.

I whitnessed almost the entire thing at the end of the game. Basically some drunk Klipper fans opened their big mouths, only to be wickedly dropped by a mob of Wings fans... it was like 40 vs 6. So I guess it's safe to say we actually won something haha. The fights carried on in the lobby, and outside aswell.
What a sad sad game, i can't believe there was only 644 fans again thats so pathetic!! come on weyburn, this is playoff hockey. There is more fans in a regular season game there is right now..hopefully there is another game here and lets see more people out!!
It did seem a lot more rowdy, however. So kudos to that. But I agree, 644 is like a wednesday night REGULAR SEASON crowd. On Fridays and Saturdays we would always get over 800. What's wrong, guys?!
No, I don't get it?
Have never seen such a poor playoff turn out.
Be interesting to see how many fans kindersley gets.
Yeah, if they get about the same crowd we got, I'll stop complaining. If they get higher, I'm gonna be kinda angry haha
booze and weyburn s do not mix had this i had this discussion this fall i made my point asshole
Sounds like the last blogger has has a little booze himself..lol
i also love how that guy cant even put a name to go with the post... i may take him a little more serious if he grew a set and had a name
I really don"t agree with the comment that 40 weyburn fans wickedly dropped some drunk kindersley fans.....and calling us a mob really makes things better....not....what I saw and I was right there was a weyburn fan was pushed down the stairs and right into the kindersley fan that was letting us know what had just happened....then about 4 or 5 guys got into a bit of a scuffle.....and as far as I could tell the hungry mob had already dispersed by then.....weyburn fans are rowdy in some sections yes.....but we support our boys all season this way....by cheering loud and proud....and I think that we should let any fan that comes into our barn to heckle us or torment our players we should let them know that they can't do this by making so much noise that they can't be heard instead of sitting on our hands and listening to it...so with that all I have to say is go get em in kindersley boys
Bingo, good point hornguy
I kind of agree with the music guy. what he described about that fight was exactly how i saw it. I was around the area of the sound room aswell. haha so i guess the people on the other side saw everything differently.
If the wings make it back home for a game, we are gonna blow the roof off the colly.
Well we better get alot better turn out & get more people cheering if we want to blow the roof off the colly!
Haha no kidding, but i'm sure we can pull it off. Just bring as many people with you to the game as possible!
I found it kinda funny how there was around 450 people at this afternoon's Bantam A Rams game. Those hockey moms were LOUD. I couldn't hear the music I was playing for 3/4 of the game!! If any of you are reading this, I wanna see you guys in the stands making that kind of noise at the next Wings game! haha
GO KLIPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's funny. You actually think you are getting another game in Weyburn! HAH
It's Over!
SWEEEEEEEEEP
sweep? well you just never know do ya, could happen, but i wouldn't get to high on that happening just yet.......
You aren't one of the kindersley fans that got a lickin' sat. night are you?
Funny how every Klipper fan I've come across turns out to be a complete jackass.. even on the internet.
