It's crunch time for the Wings, Klippers lead series 3-1

The Red Wings go from a major high to a major low in less than 24 hours as the Kindersley Klippers took a 3-1 series lead tonight with a 5-2 victory.

I got an email from co-writer Brad McNeil tonight asking if I would do the post game write up because he might not have been to friendly to the referees tonight. I didn’t have a chance to listen to the game tonight but just by looking at the stats you can tell the Red Wings were in tough.

The Klippers took advantage by scoring three powerplay goals tonight while the Red Wings fired one powerplay goal home in the third period to make the game interesting. Torrey Lindsay scored at 11:07 in the final frame to cut the Klippers lead to just one goal to give the boys some hope, but that is as close as they would come.

The super line of Sawka, Leedahl and Redlick then took over. At 16:03 Sawka scored to give the Klippers another two goal lead. Then it was Redlick who would end all hope for the Red Wings as he scored at 18:25 with assists going to Sawka and Leedahl.

The Red Wings will now try to hold off the Klippers in game five at the Colosseum on Friday night. Game time is 7:30.

It would be great if we could get some more fans out to this next game to cheer on the boys. We haven’t been seeing a huge turnout in these playoffs and it would be great to have some fans cheer them on when they need it the most.

Well 3-1, but haven't given up yet. Too bad they had to take out our top scorer though, In his last yr... pretty chicken shit.

Go Wings! 2 home games left if we can keep winning!

I was so excited when we made it 3-2.
I think the 4 minutes in penalties by Crockatt hurt us bad. It was such a bad time to take a penalty like that. Yah hate to see unsportsmanlike penalties, they do nothing good for the team.

I have to agree with above poster, even though the 2 min interference may have been a week call by the ref, it was even weeker for Crockatt to add the 2 min unsportsmanlike.

I only caught a few min. of the 2nd period on the radio, when Lindsay i think it was, was checked from behind & there was no penalty called, except the one on weyburn about 10 seconds later, how was the officiating over all?

The Referee-in-Chief assigned theses on ice officials based on past evaluations or supervision reports. You earn a playoff game because you’re better than the rest. (The third on ice official may be a developmental assignment. Get the young superstar some experience at this level and they’re trying so hard they usually do a good game. )

I feel positive the Wings will be in Kindersley, Sunday, for Game 6 and my simple request for the game assignor: Please,

THIS TIME CHOOSE A REF THAT IS SMARTER THAN THE PUCK!

I believe the coach has to sit down and re-evaluate the systems he is using in this playoff. They are a dismal failure. Kindersley is reading everything the wings are doing. Why we don't have two guys in forechecking is beyond me. Every one keeps blaming it on the players. The players are doing what the coach is telling them to do. We continue to play a defensive game even when we are down 1 or two goals. I know Big Mac has been coaching for a long time and he is stubborn and there is a lot of respect for him but he is the one that is losing this series for us. He says the players have to be accountable ofr their mistakes and that is true. But he has to be accountable for his and I believe he thinks he is doing nothing wrong. Well you are worong Big Mac.

I disagree. The players are not playing Big Mac's system. That is the problem.

I overheard a few fans noting that they changed up the lines just before the selection series, and thats the time we started to struggle. So if they would change them back to what they were before the selection series...

Re: System a dismal failure: Hey!Don't forget we're playing a good hockey team here, Kindersley are no slouches.
Our system a dismal failure...c'mon...
If we would have got the bounces in the 1st 2 games, because i believe we did out play them, then you wouldn't be doubting Mac's coaching right now would you? Sure, everyone makes mistakes, but i've learned not to doubt Dwight. After all the years of experience & championships as a coach, You think he is using the wrong system & doesn't even know it??
C'mon! get with it!

I see the blog coaches are out again.. lol

Go to the game & cheer for your team & leave the coaching up to the staff!

You can convince yourself that Big Macs system is not a failure. but hey who are we really kidding. BM has been using this system all year and we have been very inconsistant. He has been using this system since the selection series and he has only won one game. and we were outplayed that game too. we just happen to get lucky. Believe what you want. We need two guys in forechecking in their zone, not 5 guys backing out to try to trap. Especially when we are losing!!!

Yeah it was so inconsistent during the regular season that the team ended up in first place. You can't spend the whole night in the goddamn penalty box and win the hockey game. If these guys buy into Mac's system they will win. Bottom line.

lol, yeah we just happened to get lucky & ended up with 80 pts. this yr. 2nd in the league.. i'm just trying to imagine how many points we would have had if we sent 2 guys in forechecking all yr...wow!
Go sit in the crowd , try & cheer for your team, instead of trying to pick it apart.

Brad. What is Mac's system? Obviously playing Crockatt within the last ten minutes is part of it. Why? Perhaps this is part of the reason we don't have the attendance. And to the writer a few blogs back, I am not surprised. Don't get me wrong go wings go! I think if the piped in music would stop a little before the faceoffs it would give the fans a chance to cheer. Come on out everyone, it is to early to have hockey end this year. We have a good team, lets cheer them on!!!

I'm done with this. If you want to discuss it with me come find me at the rink. I am sick of trying to defend the league's best coach to a bunch of anonymous posters.

Well put Brad.
They don't get it.

Brad! I believe you are defending the coach to 1 or 2 bloggers only. When you get fed up with them you buy into what it is they are trying to accomplish. Some of the things they are saying maybe legit and some are from their eyes only. It is only their opinion and that is all. I have been here for 4 games (I believe I will be here for seven) and I am disappointed that we are not up 3 to 1 instead of behind. I came here to see my son, hopefully move on to the next round and that may or may not happen. I still believe it will. Here is my opinion. I don't believe the team has played to its full potential, YET! I believe the coach and the players are making mistakes but so is kindersley. The difference is KK is capitalizing on ours. But that is hockey. I think we will all see this turn around tonight. But win or lose we have to get behind the team. What we all have to realize is the team has done great. I recall an interview by the coach earlier this year when he and the fans did not expect to be contenders this year but here we are in the playoffs. That should say something!!! Win or lose this round. I think you guys do a great job with the website and the blog and your broadcasting is second to none.
